| Extended Play Extended Play, commonly referred by its acronym, ‘EP,’ is the name assigned to lengthy CDs or vinyl records. Once connected to singles that were extended beyond a standard length, EPs are also known as ‘mini albums.’ Extended play audio recordings are often longer than singles, and shorter than normal albums. Typically, an EP usually has five to eight tracks and can play up to 35 minutes in length of time. At one time, singles that were extended beyond their standard length were considered extended play albums. Additionally, when applied to compact discs, the term ‘EP’ may be used to distinguish shorter versions from longer ones with the terms: ‘CD EP’ or ‘CD LP.’ If you would like to contribute your story or article on extended play albums feel free to do so at Media Positive Radio today. |
