Grammy

Wouldn’t it be great to win a Grammy Award? In the music industry, winning a Grammy can be a distinguished honor, and the highlight of a recording artist’s career! Presented by the Recording Academy for outstanding achievements in the recording industry, the Grammy was once originally called the Gramophone Awards.

The highest rated, and one of four popular music awards shows, the Grammys are annually held in the United States. Grammy awards are separated into 108 categories comprised of 30 various music genres; including jazz, pop, rock, rap, reggae, Rhythm and Blues, and more. Unlike awards based on sales or popularity, the Grammy is awarded based on peer votes.

The Grammy award itself is a trophy that sports a gilded gramophone, and the award ceremony is televised with feature performances of popular recording artists.

Of the many Grammy winners, conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Sir Georg Solti holds a record number of Grammys; winning 31 Grammys himself, he was also listed for 38 additional ones. Prior to his death in 1997, Sir Solti was nominated an additional 74 more times.

More recently, U2 won five Grammy awards in the 2006 awards ceremony. Other current Grammy winners include Mariah Carey, Green Day, Kelly Clarkson, Stevie Wonder, Slipknot, and others.

We hope you found this explanation about the Grammys to your understanding, however, if you would like to contribute your own article or story about this particular topic, feel free to do so at Media Positive Radio today.
