Musical Instruments

Musical instruments are grouped into four major types of instruments: Electronic, Percussion, String and Wind.

Of the wind instruments, the French Horn is notated by its round shape, and is played with the right hand inside the bell. The trumpet is known by its brassy, high notes, and is often played by jazz musicians. One of the lowest musical instruments is the Tuba and is often used in marching bands. Other wind musical instruments are the flute, the clarinet and the Saxophone.

String musical instruments include the Violin, Viola, Bass and Cello. Cymbals, Bass and Snare Drums, and the Timpani are known as percussion musical instruments.

In addition to the above classifications of musical instruments, there is still yet another grouping of instruments called ‘acoustic instruments,’ which are musical instruments that produce sound without the use of electronics. (Acoustic musical instruments include percussion, wind and string instruments.)

More modern instruments include electronic musical instruments. These are musical instruments which produce sound through the use of electronics, and may be in part, audio signal processing applications used to create sound effects and other musical sounds.

While this is simply an overview of general musical instruments, if you would like to contribute your own article or expertise about this particular topic, feel free to do so at Media Positive Radio today.
