Musicians

Musicians are amateur or professional entertainers who compose or play music. Musicians may be singers or instrumentalists; and often perform freelance work as well as contractual work.

In most cases, artists are titled by their specific profession. For example, a musician who’s specialty is drum playing, may be called a drummer; just like a musician who sings songs, may be called a singer or vocalist. Additionally, musicians may also be referred to by particular genre. Some examples of this would be pop musician, rock musician, jazz musician, etc.

One of Reggae’s most famous artists was a guitarist, singer and songwriter, Bob Marley. Giving reggae a popular appeal outside of Jamaica, this musician made his claim to fame by performing in political concerts.

Another renowned musician, Tupac Amaru Shakur, was not only an artist but an actor and a poet as well. Tupuc’s album sale made it into the Guinness Book of World Records; and is still considered by many the greatest rap artist in history.

Louis Armstrong, also known as ‘Satchmo,’ was one of America’s greatest jazz and blues musicians. Known for his unique style and voice, Louis Armstrong still captures listeners with his beautifully sentimental song, ‘What a Wonderful World.’

Musicians will come and go throughout time, but it is the artists who leave their melodies in our hearts and minds…it is they, who will live forever.
