A little tidbit about Novelty Music... What is novelty music? Novelty music is music often associated with comedic and humorous undertones. Usually lively, novelty music includes the notorious artist Weird "Al" Yankovich, whose funny albums went Gold and Platinum. His sometimes ridiculous, but hysterical novelty music songs include parody pop favorites, "Eat it," "Like a Surgeon," "I Lost on Jeopardy," "Smells like Nirvana," and "Amish Paradise," to name a few. Additionally and not soon-to-be-forgotten, novelty music comedy genius Ray Stevens is known for his novelty music greats "Ahab the Arab," "Santa Claus is Watching You," and the infamous "Mississippi Squirrel Revival." Novelty music artist, Dave Lippman has been performing his musical antics since 1969; and still tours today. Whether you're in the mood for comedy, or simply wish to get a good laugh every now and then, novelty music is a source of lively entertainment. Furthermore, novelty music incorporates comedic songs about general topics, including food, cultural scenes, parodies (songs that mimic mainstream songs); television and film music clips; cartoons and more! Some more laughable novelty music is comprised of generic rap songs, and the group Aqua, during the late 1990s, came out with their novelty music song, "Barbie Girl" which sparked a lawsuit from Mattel.
