A little tidbit about Pop Music... What is pop music? Typically, pop music is definitively created with bass and electric guitars, drums, keyboards, synthesizers and vocals. The word "pop music" is actually derived from "popular music," but finds its musical roots in multiple genres. Including, but not limited to R&B, country, dance and rock; pop music is a loose term, which reflects many styles of musical expression. Expressed by individuality and lifestyle, pop music tends to have an impact on consumer and social trends. A largely image-driven genre, pop music owes much of its success to it easy marketability. Due to its versatility, pop music is often used by businesses for commercial purposes. Pop music is also more memorable than other genres as it is comprised of simplistic melodies and rhythms, allowing for easy listening. A little info on pop music artists... Historically, pop music began making its musical debut with Elvis Presley during the 1950s, so says public commentator, Sean O'Hagan from The Observer. While some may disagree with this notion, multi-genre, Elvis stirred America with his non-mainstream rock'n roll, rather, pop music of the time. Through decades of new music being introduced to "normal" music circles, legendary "pop music" artists The Who surprised mainstream with their original lyrics, especially "My Generation." In addition to other pop music artists, pop music single Pop Muzik by "M" hit billboards nearly three decades ago. In1997, The Spice Girls made musical waves with their pop music single "Wannabe." Today, pop music can be heard on just about any radio station and is considered "mainstream" music.
